Job Responsibilities and Expectations

As a Data Engineer and Information Specialist, you will be working on a range of exciting projects, including:

  • Applying transformation methods to change raw data into useful formats for downstream systems, using programming and computing tools to ensure data quality and completeness.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to document and understand data requirements, assessing project plans to evaluate data costs, access, and availability.
  • Drafting design specifications to model data flow and storage, ensuring data is easy to connect and maintain.
  • Following data modeling and handling procedures to maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and policies across your assigned workstreams.
  • Contributing to performing root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues and anomalies, with guidance from others, contributing to the development of reliability and performance monitoring protocols and building visualizations to monitor data quality and pipeline health.
  • Supporting and monitoring data platforms to ensure optimal performance and compliance with service level agreements.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with ETL and data transformation methods for large datasets.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, Network, and Data Pipeline.
  • Experience with scripting and coding languages with an emphasis on data engineering, such as SQL, KQL, Python, Extension, and others.
  • Experience with C# or comparable object-oriented programming languages.

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements

While not essential, the following qualifications and requirements are preferred:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Computer Engineering, or a related field, and 1+ year(s) experience in business analysis, data science, data modeling, or data engineering work.
  • A Graduate degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Dev, Data, or ML Operations processes.
  • Experience reading, debugging, and writing production-ready code in C/C++.
  • Experience with supporting artificial intelligence/ML applications for internal and external customer-facing products and building large data pipelines for those scenarios.
  • Experience with Git, ADO, or comparable Source Control Systems.
  • Experience with building large data processing systems using technologies like Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Explorer, PowerBI, as well as other public and Microsoft internal tools.
