Geotechnical Engineer, P.E. ID-19575

DESCRIPTION

The Construction Geotechnical Engineer works to obtain Geotechnical and CMT service projects approved by the owner for STL Engineers. The Geo Engineer provides support to the lab for testing and aids in the supervision of Quality Control within the lab and reporting from the lab. The Geotech Engineer writes Geotechnical reports for projects which include soil studies/evaluations, soil / subgrade / foundation / structure recommendations, lab test summaries and assists with RFQ’s, SOQ’s and project proposals for both CMT and Geotechnical projects. The Geotech Engineer will be required to setup, meet, schedule and budget all Geotech project needs depending on the project. The Geotech Engineer must read and interpret construction plans for structures, bridges and roadways and understand construction specifications, engineering tables and other reference material. All work is required to be performed in a safe and professional manner.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Contact clients and propose geotechnical projects with clients.
  • Coordinate all drilling activities for CARCON/STL geotechnical project work.
  • Work with lab to obtain reports and write geotechnical report for client review then after comments are made along with corrections/ amendments a final report is sent to client.
  • Provide a weekly report to owner detailing past, current and future projects.
  • Assist Lab Manager with review of client final reporting.
  • Assist with CMT project take-offs and proposals etc...
  • Work with Management staff on various company maintenance items including vehicle inspections, ordering equipment, project set up, etc…
  • Review field test results which may require making independent decisions to accept or reject the test to ensure quality standards are being met.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional manner with clients, sub-contractors, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or as required by project.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Educational and Experience Preferences: Professional Engineering Stamp

5 years minimum of related construction experience in duties described above and/or equivalent combination of experience and technical training. Must understand ASTM, AASHTO and ACI standards. Must be able to read architectural drawings and TxDOT drawings.

Organized, Detailed Oriented and self-motivated with the ability to record and communicate observation results accurately. Familiar with Texas soils and gINT software.

Physically, due to the nature of multiple projects, P.E. MUST be able to; climb and maintain body balance; use hands and arms fully; stand, kneel, bend, crawl, or crouch for long periods; and see well (either naturally or with correction).

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
